The Ending

i produced a short animation to add to the end of our
video production as in our presentation, the feed back
we got was that we could have had an advertisement
or rather a link or information about where to go to book,
find out more or just generally
inquire into the subject of our animation.

the short animation basically involves the text flying
in from different angles, and the .com moving to a
click sound effect, quirky i thought but does exactly
what was required upon Evaluation.

I'm A Real Animator

For the first time, EVER!! I animated a scene
I took the files from the drop box that
Ross Mudd had modelled, and 'grabbed' a scene.

I decided on the rock climbing scene as I felt it
would be the most challenging to animate
especially for myself as i have had no previous experience.
FULL STOP

I started with the Human Figure
it was very hard to begin with working out how
to set a key frame. i decided to use auto key as
it sets up the animation quicker more simplistically.
I found it hard moving the body as Ross had rigged
a bone structure under the skin. but as I found out
how to move my 'selection' between these bones,
it progressed with relative ease. It was a lot easier
having each bone work as its own 'Layer'
like in photoshop, so when it was selected it was
the only thing visible on the time line.
I found this to be helpful beyond belief.

The cameras were a little tricky,
first I was using a line camera but
I found that a free cam was much
more pliable and I could achieve the angles
I envisaged when i constructed the story board.
With the animation and cameras set i found the
rendering to be a long and laborious process.
and every mistake i found meant repeating the
process, and after all of that watching the render
took forever due to massive file sizes.

despite these set backs i found it
rather fun and i learnt a lot about the application
and how i can utilise it further in my future projects.

Story Board

1.Active Essesx drops onto the screen and bounces
twice, finishes slightly right of perspective, tress
pop up and background go blue, birds cherp in the
background and happy music plays.

2. A quad bike revs its engine breaking the silence,
it jumps over the text, the camera zomes in and
slow motions on the bike, the bike lands and spins
a three sixty spitting mud at the screen.

3. From the muss water erupts and a kanoe
splashs past, the camera pans around the kanoe,
like the bullet time effect from the matrix.
as it completes it zooms in on the padle.

4. Camera pulls out from the close up on the
padle to reveal it is now the archers arrow.
The arrow is fired the camer takes the arrows
head as its perspective shot, as it flies past trees
towards the target.

5. The camera stops short of the
target and paint balls hit it instead, lots of them,
the camera runs off to the right taking the perspective
of a man running from the paint balls.

the camera jumps the wall and falls flat on the
ground, as the camera pulls out its a guy
climbing on the rock wall, he climbs up and
off the screen.

6. as he climbs off scene, the camera pans to the
right, the character then absails down past
the camera. the rope go's tight,
after this the camera rotates
90 degrees anti clock wise.

7. A character ziplines down the rope left by the
absailer, as he goes off screen you hear a thud
he has slide into the Active Essex text.
the camera pans out as everyone in the
animation stands round it pulls out as it fades
to black and roll credits!

Artefacts For Activities in Essex

We went to the Essex outdoors centre in Harlow,
I took some photos of the members in our group
performing some of the activities for
referencing, maybe even for use texturing.
the day proved productive we got some good shots
and learnt a lot bout the Essex Outdoors centres.

Initial Thoughts

Andrews Initial thoughts and idea's

As discussed with all the other group members, Essex is a vast area with many options.
for days out, you can visit old castle ruins or go to adventure or activity centers, there is the Southend amusement park or even festivals in Chelmsford such as the massively popular V Festival.

My initial ideas are to focus on one aspect and produce a very good information film based on that aspect, this is so that we don't over excerpt ourselves for this project, as one very good piece of work is better than one over ambitious failure of an attempt.
